Better than: Any of the ‘Ice Age’ movies.
Not quite as Good as: Any Pixar feature.
Commentary: A co-worker said it best – If you take the sweetness of ‘Boo’ from ‘Monsters, Inc.’ and multiply it to the power of cute, you will have this movie. It is truly adorable and heartwarming.
Better than: Funny People, Paul Blart: Mall Cop, and any Rob Schneider movie
Worse than: Joe Dirt, Happy Gilmore, or Grandma’s Boy
Commentary: Amusing throughout, often times even hilarious. The very funny cast squeeze every bit of comedy they can from the so-so script. A harmless, fun comedy.
Better than: Any other animated movie this year. Possibly Pixar’s most mature film to date.
Commentary: Frosted Mini-Wheats time – The adult in me loved the darker tone and complexity of plot, however the kid in me was fairly terrified by some of the more villainous characters and disturbing situations. Think ‘The Shawshank Redemption’ meets ‘Toy Story’.
Better than: The Losers
Worse than: The original series
Commentary: Fun and mindlessly entertaining – the best part of this movie is the superb chemistry between Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Sharlto Copley, and Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson.
